Seco Tools CW100 ceramic insert grades machine HRSAs

Seco Tools has expanded its Secomax line for manufacturers seeking tooling to combat unpredictable tool life and slow rough-machining speeds when working with heat-resistant superalloys (HRSA). The CW100 ceramic insert grade features new geometries, including whisker-reinforced ceramics, for INCONEL 718, Hastelloy, Waspaloy, MAR, Nimonic, Rene, Udimet, and other HRSAs.

The grade expansion encompasses four new round insert formats with two geometries, E-01020 and T-01020, and four grooving insert geometries with widths of 0.125, 0.25, and 0.312 in.

The aluminum-oxide-based grade with silicon-carbide whiskers (Al2O3-SiC) boosts machining speeds in HRSA materials and ensures stable and predictable tool life for the lowest possible cost per part thanks to the silicon-carbide whiskers, which use optimized microgeometries for low ceramic wear resistance and strength, the company states.
